What is Child Dedication?
Child dedication is not an act of salvation, baptism, or church membership. At a Child Dedication service, parents express before God, their family, and the church, their desire to raise their child in a God-honoring way. This is a separate, special service event where family and friends attend, pray, and commit to supporting the family in their efforts. Dedications may take place from birth through early childhood. There is no water involved, as baptism is an event that will come later when the child grows and personally accepts Christ .
