When you are scheduled for baptism, we will have a change of clothes and sandals available for you to change into. If you prefer, you can go in the clothes you wore. You will be brought to the baptismal tank and step in along with a pastor and leader from your campus. The pastor will ask you if you have placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior? Once you say yes, they will help you cover your nose and mouth. They will then guide you backward into the water until you are fully submerged and then quickly bring you back up. The water is warm, and the process takes a few seconds.

Jesus set the example for His followers by being baptized (Matt. 3:13; Mark 1: 9; Luke 3:21; John 1:32-34). If you have chosen to follow Jesus, baptism is your next step. The scriptures show that part of being a follower of Jesus is identifying with Him (Matt. 10:32; Rom. 10:9-10). If someone claimed to love you yet refused to be associated with you, it would make sense to doubt whether they really loved you at all. In the same way, avoiding the step of baptism calls into question whether or not we are truly following Him.

As Christians we believe that baptism is about declaring you have chosen to follow Jesus. As an infant, someone with good intentions may have made that decision for you. However, following Jesus is a decision each person must make for themselves at the time they are ready.
