One of seven metrics used in determining regional opening is the number of trained and available Contact Tracers. The Hudson Valley has been informed we need 300 due to the population of the Mid-Hudson Valley Region which Orange County falls in. The role of a Contract Tracer will involve calling people throughout Orange County who may have had contact with a COVID-19 positive individual and collecting/entering data with respect to their whereabouts and individuals they may have contacted. To be a Contact Tracer, NYS requires the completion of an online training and certification program that requires a quick online exam. Volunteers will need to take a free course from John Hopkins University. The application shows a fee of $49 but there will be no cost at checkout. If you are interested, please contact the Deputy Commissioner of Health, Mike Ventre, at mventre@orangecountygov.com.

At this time we would like to extend a giant thank you as we have experienced an overwhelming amount of calls, emails and texts asking how you can help love on the people in our community. Due to the recent protocol prohibiting contact, we are unable to send volunteers out at this time. Currently there are two local organizations that would greatly be blessed by your financial support – Both Country Kids Food Pantry and Food For Kids have ways for you to donate to their efforts in getting necessary supplies to those in our community who need it most. Links to both local charities are listed below.

We have a huge opportunity yet very little time to gear up and launch our Grace Highland Falls campus at the Thayer Hotel, West Point. If you’re interested in serving, please head to graceoc.com/serve and choose the “Highland Falls” campus. We’re asking all interested to complete the full application so we expedite volunteer processing. Not sure where you want to serve? No worries! Regardless of your form choices, someone will be reaching out to discuss where you’d best fit.
